2009–2013: Bootstrap years
Launch Leads opened in 2009 in a townhouse in Salt Lake City. Card table, VOIP dialer, no outside investors, no business plan polished enough for a pitch deck. The first invoice was performance-based. The first hires were not college grads — they were experienced sales professionals, mid-career, the kind of reps who could already hold a conversation with a VP.
By 2011, the Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum named us one of the Top 25 Companies Under 5 Years Old (#21). In 2012, we placed #20 on the same list.
2014–2019: Scale years
Scott Smith joined from Clearlink (where he had been Director of Sales Operations and then Vice President from 2011–2014) and took over as CEO and owner. The company kept its bootstrap posture and its hiring philosophy.
In 2016, Scott graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program, and the company placed #94 on MWCN’s Utah 100. By 2017, Launch Leads jumped to #16 on the Utah 100 — and earned its first Inc. 5000 placement (#2277). We earned that designation again in 2018 and 2019 — three consecutive years.
In 2019, DotCom Magazine named Launch Leads its Impact Company of 2019.
2020–2023: Wells Fargo years
In November 2020 — mid-pandemic, when most companies were vacating office leases — Launch Leads moved into the iconic Wells Fargo Building in downtown Salt Lake City, at 299 South Main Street, Suite 1300.
In 2023, Launch Leads received the Best of Salt Lake City Award in the Business Management Consultant category, and won its first Clutch Award.
2024–today: Compounding
In August 2024, Launch Leads won the 2024 Lead Generation Award from Clutch, recognizing top-performing companies in the category based on client feedback and verified outcomes.
In 2026, the methodology continues to evolve in response to one of the loudest shifts in B2B sales: the rise of agentic AI and “AI SDR” platforms. Launch Leads is on the counter-position. We use AI inside our process to make the team faster. We don’t use it in front of your prospects.
